And you actually posted this on the FP too. :D Honorable Congratulations man!

Gotta share the good news! Cheers CD :D

That you gotta! Curious if you time in these posts according to frontpage privileges too btw, one to the FP exactly every fourteen days? Haven't thought about that before...

I post up news as and when there is some, but if I know there'll be big bit of news coming up I may post a smaller bit of news but delay the FP privileges and wait to use them on the bigger news. Sometimes it's a difficult decision which to prioritise. For example with this one, I thought a track getting on frontpage would bring more attention newswise than my Patreon Reward Archive being updated (which I'll be posting about tomorrow), so had to choose which one I thought would gain more attention for overall marketing goodness.

Ahh yeah that's a tough call. Patreon news potentially bigger monetary boost, yet potentially detrimental money-fixating impression compared to a NG-supporting-and-honoring FP mention.. Sounds like the wiser route. Potential fan counts boost to more pressurelessly boost the monetary.

Good to know. No exact day schedule but plenty of parallel considerations...

I felt that the NG FP award was the top priorty since it was more time sensitive (not sure how long the track'd remain front paged) + potentially better for as you say the NG fan boost :) Could definitley do WITH a monetary boost, but feels like it's something not easy to organically achieve with posts like this and better to just build a fanbase where the people who keep coming back and have the means to might potentially support on Patreon. Gotta make a good creative impression first and foremost :)

Riiight timely notice too, didn't consider that. For sure, hopefully this route pays off in the long run. :) I feel like there's from a consumer perspective probably an inherent correlation to the appreciation level you gain for an artist depending on if how they seem to showcase creative passion or more so money making ditto. Delicate art that is, promoting things the right way, so even the promos seem like a part of the passion project; come across as a reward in themselves. Ryan Reynalds for example seems to have pretty much made ads his art, not really relevant maybe but it's pretty fascinating, seems he's mastered the format somehow: https://youtu.be/KABSYzPqTTg

Aaand should maybe mention that video's one in a steady stream of creative promos for just about anything, for both personal projects and franchises and just about anything. Seems like a creative goldmine...

(replying to both those comments)

Mhmm. I know what you mean! I'd definitely not be creativing music for the money, but I love creating music so I've just gotta do it, and if I can help it to fund itself (or better yet help me save up for food or a house or something) then that'd be the dream :) I'm sure much of what I promote will probably not help generate revenue, but if (for example) I get played on the radio or get a NG FP feature then I've gotta share that news around :D I'm proud and thankful to be showcased in such ways, and it's the least I can do to say thanks :)

Hehe, I've seen a couple of those Ryan Reynolds adverts but I hadn't seen that one! Friggin' hilarious! Very well done I agree. He's got a gift for it for sure!

Creativing huh, creating new words here too. :) Do hope you're not currently actually saving up just to buy some food, but amen otherwise, well said! Appreciation's the amplifier of all celebration and all too. That's awesome.

Ad sense like a billionaire! Add cents and instill a fear in ad agencies that can't make it seem they build careers just misplace their dreams... hmm, couldn't think of a better way to respond to that, ah well, he definitely does!

Ha XD You'll have to forgive my bad proofreading! Food's doing ok, btw. I'm not going hungry or anything thankfully, though making use of the reduced price section frequently (feel like I might've mentioned that in another message before?) :) +1 to the sentiments!

And a great response it was XD

As long as it makes for wordy inspiration and reinvention as such I don't mind. :P Cool cool, that's good to hear, and yeaaah reduced prices are the way to go! :D Same. I don't think I'd be casting aside that habit even if I was rich, why buy full price items when you can save a bit, and enjoy edibles of no lesser quality for it. It's the only wise buy price-wise! ;)

Woot. :)

Too true. I'm definitely a person who wants less food to be wasted so if there are some tasty things which'll just be thrown out anyways, I'll be grabbing them, though I do feel that maybe in the future (even now) there'll be peeps out there who need that reduced food more than me, so I generally go for the leftover stuff at the end of the day (unless food's particually tight for the week or there's something extra tasty there)! Such is the way and all in moderration I guess :)

Definitely that too, feels like you're doing a good deed along with the saving. Saving money; saving the world a bit. Ah that's thoughtful of you. Over here we have a few separate movements for those who REALLY need that food, and can't afford to pay for it, so I don't mind going for the reduced prices in regular ships whenever I see 'em. Though there's fortunately often a surplus anyway, especially with dairy products.

Recently learned there's basically three lower tiers for those with less money though. For starters there's a whole franchise of shops, a bit harder to find, for anyone with a low pension/income in particular. You have to bring proof of earning to qualify to shop there, and the reward's cheap food. Not sure how/where they get it.

Then there's at least a couple companies/organizations that care of any food shops are about to throw away, and occasionally arrange meeting points for specific ones where anyone who's applied for a membership can come and pick up a share of said food. Membership costs around 50 GBP a year, and you get access to at least one meeting point per month. Depending on overall interest you can get anywhere from half a grocery bag to a whole car full of food with each, so if you just have a viable means of transportation that seems like the real treasure trove foodwise.

And then there's Stadsmissionen, and other volunteer organizations, handing out food for free, cooking soup and such. It's pretty cool how elaborate a network we have at least when it comes to seeing everyone gets the opportunity to eat something...

Not really related to the poverty line, but there are a few apps now for similar services with restaurants. If they have leftover lunches for example then can sell them out for half the price at the end of the day; you pay via the app and fetch it. Pretty handy too.

Agreed, though not really sure if it’s “thoughtful” as such, feels like just the right thing to do? Not waste, not overspend, and making sure everyone has the food they need before getting extra? A side note: I always try to only take what I can eat before it’ll go bad. No point in hoarding stuff only to throw it away myself. Yup, over here there’s foodbanks and the such similarly :) Sometimes there’s surplus, sometimes not so much with regards reduced food, though. Thankfully not too much dairy is wasted that I can see, though there are often yoghurts which will keep a little longer than milk for instance :)

Interesting to hear about those other organisations and such you mentioned too. I have heard about some of those. Good to hear there’s extra help for people and times when needed.

Oh! And I’ve tried that restaurants thing one time. Got some tasty leftover sushi at the end of the day once and, while not particularly cheap it was tasty :D Better in my stomach than in a bin though! Good business model IMO!

Considering I don't think I'd even considered it it definitely seems thoughtful to me to give others first dibs on those reduced prices though. XD How many people really think that far/act as generously, maybe I've been unusually short-sighed in this case though... seems like the right thing indeed, for sure. I suppose a problem with leaving things till the end of the day, if there is a surplus, could be the shops actually throw some of that stuff away before you or anyone else gets to it. Regarding hoarding stuff, of course, I don't do that either for anything like this. Do buy in bulk amounts on normal sales, but not to the point anything goes bad. We rarely throw away anything here. In fact I can't remember the last time we did.... bit different with homegrown food though. It goes bad all too quickly sometimes, sometimes the frost comes too early, sometimes storage conditions aren't ideal, not as much you can do in those cases. Feels like a natural cycle though with everything that's self-farmed, there's no waste, everything goes back to the Earth one way or another.

Ah many over here flavored yoghurt in particular is possibly the biggest surplus item. :) It seems people have started eating a bit healthier, but somehow shops aren't adjusting, if there's no reduced price on anything else there's plenty of those. In the end I don't think people manage to buy all of 'em.

Ah you have similar ones there too? Curious about further details if you learn of any, tis an interesting area to know about.

Ayy nice. :) For sure! I've had that a few times, so far think I've tried sushi once, a somewhat disappointingly basic vegan sandwich at a fancy hotel, a shrimp salad... was starting to make the app a bit of an after work thing sometimes just before this pandemic thing broke out. Cheap way to arrange the occasional little feast. For those who live in the city there's bound to be waaaay more surplus right now though... do you know the name of the app you had for that btw? Is there a standard price reduction? Half price? Different for different places?

I am a huge fan of this trend, though I wonder if it is a good business model, I'm happy they feel it is but it also seems like a certain group who might've bought items at full price now might be opting for the same thing at a lower price at the end of the day. Wonder if they're really making a profit off of this or no... profit or no though it's the right way to go.

Fair dos :) Maybe it’s just me, though I can’t really see that XD True that too, though most of my shopping is at the end of the day anyways + the prices are lowest just before closing time. There have been times where I’ve missed it and there’s been nothing left though... such is the gamble! I think the only thing we’ve throw away in recent years is a few cups of off-milk, maybe some very sad salad or VERY old jars of stuff. It’s definitely a rarity though thankfully :) That’s fair with regards homegrown stuff too and +1 to the back to the Earth sentiments!

(Nods re: yoghurts!)

I don’t know too much, though there are food banks where you can donate you food. They usually have a trolley or box on the way out of the shop for you to donate to.

Ah yes... the before times! I can’t remember, as it was well over a year ago now and it wasn’t on my phone (someone else's phone). Couldn’t say any details for sure. Too true with regards business ponderings though. I guess if it’s not working out for the companies, they could always just opt out? A win for the Earth and customers at least while they continue :)

Can't really see the trend when you go shopping, or believe it is so more so? Ah well it's the perfect timing then. I do too right now, seems like the best time to avoid crowds, but earlier on it was usually during the day. Timed to other activities. Ah they actually lower prices close to closing time over there? With products with a short shelf-life in particular or just overall? That's cool to hear. :) It's a little depressing to see how much people throw away otherwise, good to hear some of us are going against that norm. Was listening to a Joe Rogan podcast recently for example where he was talking to some guy about weight loss, and the other guy was saying that if there's a piece of cheesecake in the fridge he just wants to eat that first before he starts dieting, and Joe responded with 'why don't you just throw it away'!!!! O_O Arrrr. I suppose this really has to do with how you're raised. Some cultures/families it seems polite to leave a little on your plate too. But man. Such a wasteful way of thinking.

(Same over there re: yogurts w/flavor?)

Ah interesting! I suppose you can donate to those volunteer organizations I spoke of here too, but seems like a somewhat different system there.

So long ago, alas. XD Mmm. Well I mean they might THINK it is working out, but I wonder if they really consider the potential customer divide there. Feels like a model they might become reliant on as people adapt to it too, and start to request those kinds of deals. If other restaurants join the movement and they don't - or they opt out later - they'd lose business then too. Seems like it'd be difficult to quit regardless of if it actually is good for business or no once they've started

So maybe it's not all good for the companies but I'm definitely happy either way. :) In a rich society I guess the majority will still prioritize a proper meal time over a lower price too. Hopefully a good balance for companies and consumers alike.

I meant more that I can’t really see that it’s just me being thoughtful. There’s been a fair few times where people will hand me food they think I’ll like so it’s more (for the most part) people trying to take care of one another. Not always the case depending on stock, but mostly it’s a nice community spirit (though I have seen fights before too...). Too true re: crowds too, and yes the prices are often progressively lowered, with the final lowering happening just a few hours before closing time. I usually go shopping just as they’re doing that :) With regards products, it’s only things which will go out of date on that day (things that they won’t legally be able to sell the next day), but it could be any product really from dairy, to fresh bread, to meats, or snacks / ready meals. Lots of variety on a good day! Yeah... I hate wasting food. Too true with regards how people are raised or cultures... Why would Joe say such a thing?! DX

(Nods re: yogurts) and more nods re: business. Always a gamble trying new strategies, but like you said, difficult to back out too if it doesn’t work out so well... at least there’s less food waste though :) Too true on the sentiments!

Woah, seems like people overall might just be way more thoughtful over there. You rarely see strangers interact at all over here, much less to offer something. Occasionally someone drops something and there's opportunity for benevolent communication...

On the flipside I've never seen a fight either over here. XD Man... either I don't get out enough or people here are just a bit more apathetic; keep to themselves...

Interesting. No progressive price lowering here either. In terms of not being allowed to sell expired items, it might not be international, but at least over here that's a common myth. Shops don't have to stop selling anything past expiration date, though most bigger franchises enforce the rule via internal policies themselves, possibly to keep there from being some kind of side deals/staff taking old for themselves/something like that. It's a misconception most people aren't aware of either though, wonder if it these guidelines differ on a national basis or if it's more so old stigmas that live on; we have this idea that expired items aren't safe, and thus markets picked up on that idea everywhere...

I know right?! XD He grew up in poverty too. So unnecessary...

Cool. :) And for sure for sure. True that all!

In terms more so in regard to. Just gotta point out! Shred all doubt on potential grammatical misconceptions and clout. Over and out

(Condensing those 2 comments)

Fair dos. I guess over here, there’s a bit of a “we’re all in the same boat” kind of vibe? Of course you do get that “drops something” situation too :) Good to keep a trusting sense of community for fellow peeps. Hehe, perhaps that’s the case re: the apathy too. Broader range of actions/interactions over here I guess?

Hmmm... hadn’t thought about it like that, though makes sense. I always thought it was just a law thing (over here at least)? Interestingly, I remember when I worked in a bookshop with a cafe we’d get to take any leftover sandwiches/pasties/cake home at the end of the day if working the final shift. Tasty snacks for the train home free of charge! That was one of the best perks XD I think technically we could get a free tea/coffee drink from the barrister with lunch too!

(and more nods :D)

With the pandemic in particular, or always? Cultural facet? Sounds good to have. I can see the pandemic distancing people even further over here, but I feel like it's been progressing this way for a long time. Society's just become a bit too fractioned, and even without that we're growing asocial thanks to technology. Losing a bit of that community inclusion thing. Sounds like it. :)

Hmm, giving it a Google it seems there's a two part law for this, on the one hand it actually is illegal to sell items past a 'due by' date, but not illegal past a 'best before' date. Might be the same here too then. My bad, not differentiating properly between the two. Easy info here: https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/business-and-enterprise/regulation/food-safety/food-standards

Seems like a common misconception/franchise policy thing in regard to 'best before' dates at least here.

Ahh that's the right kind of work. :) The accountant at our office has a daughter that worked at a cafe too last year, for a while she occasionally brought in entire cakes they'd just have thrown away at the end of the day. Was a nice time too... how could you give up a job like that though?! XD

(ditto ditto)

I think people were generally friendly and considerate even before the pandemic started and have continued to be since too, though there is definitely a bit more desperation since the pandemic started too, hence the occasional struggles... Too true re: technology too. People’s worlds/communities are spread thin globally rather than concentrated locally now. I guess it doesn’t help with the commuter lifestyle too (people living away from where they work).

Ah that makes sense! (due by / best before). I keep forgetting there’s actually 2 different dates. Often we have a “sell by” date rather than a due by, so selling after that definitely seems fishy XD

Nice! Ah... it was just a temporary Christmas period job for about 6 weeks over the Christmas and NY period. Christmas shopping can get pretty hectic though. I wouldn’t particularly recommend it, unless you get a quiet shift (or the ending shift with snacks)!

Mmm, for sure, a lot more distancing with work now too, though the biggest technological shift seems to be phones. Instead of having a social focus people seem to be communicating at a distance even when they're in groups. More and more.

That sounds like a potential legal gray area. XD No laws for that at all! Interesting.

Ah makes sense then. Seems key to find a cafe in a somewhat more remote area to both ease workload as much as possible and make for potentially way more sweet-related surplus after. :P

I wouldn't know directly since I work from home, but I've heard office work really isn't like it used to be (from a distancing perspective) from friends and family. True too! I very much miss having a group conversation with tea around a table instead of on Zoom, that's for sure! It's REALLY not the same remotely...

(nods)

The season makes a BIG difference too, though if it's not a busy cafe, will they have need for as many snacks (which can later be taken). Gotta weigh up those pros/cons XD

It is true yeah! Can confirm. Ah man that's the way. :D Actual tea party. I really haven't been doing any visual get-togethers either except for work, just phone calls, but same.

Right right, probably least busy over the winter, though preferably not Christmas in particular either then hmm... finna be tough to land the perfect off-season season application!

I generally Facetime family once a week, but it's been a little while since a group meeting with friends. Looking forward to an in person ANYTHING at the moment XD

I was thinking MOST busy during the winter if people are wanting hot drinks, but I guess depends on location? Tough to find the perfect lazy cafe job indeed XD

Facetime group meetings with friends too occasionally? Haha well I believe it, I do have one good nearby buddy I see occasionally here, never did get full lockdown as you know, though times like this it probably helps to be a bit of an introvert.

Ah all the way through? Over here the cafe business is booming in summer in particular, a lot of outdoor cafes in particular close down entirely over winter, it's off season for being up and about so much. The kiosks probably sell more hot drinks than usual then, but I think winter season's overall more about being home, summer about going out. Maybe does differ a bit by location too...

I'm not sure if you can do Facetime group meetings, but Zoom yes :) True dat re: introvertism at a time like this!

Ah, that's true... I guess it depends whether you have outdoor seating for summer (and serve cold drinks). I'm sure in the city / big towns it'd probably be busy all year around :)

Ah my inexperience with pretty much any kind of visual communication interfaces or form's a showing. XD GTK!

Even in Stockholm it's notable emptier around winter here. :) But maybe y'all have a different culture in regard to afternoon tea. More a routine/break type thing than a vacation/holiday one? Sounds nice if so.

Hehe XD No need to catch up!

The cultural tea thing could well be a big factor! That sounds about right to me :)
