Happy 5 year anniversary to the World Beyond YouTube Channel + a new video to celebrate: "Rewind Machine"!

Happy 5 year anniversary to the World Beyond YouTube Channel + a new video to celebrate: "Rewind Machine"!

Hi everyone and some super cool news to share with you today!

Today marks 5 years of the World Beyond YouTube Channel and after a year and half of music videos from the 2018 album "Nobody Asked For This So I Did It" (for which I played a tonne of guitar and bass), we finally reach the last track and video for the project, "Rewind Machine"!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8rbbhkYOVE

In case you don't know, World Beyond is a cinematic music project lead by a good friend of mine Vladimir Kuznetsov and a project I've been a part of since 2013, mostly lending my ears, guitar and bass, but also the occasional other instrument (such as cello) and writing. Find out more about World Beyond in the video description on YouTube!

Rewind Machine is one of my favourite tracks of the album and this video is an amazing conclusion / bonus ending to what has been a fantastic album project to be a part of! You'll see some behind the scenes stills from our recording sessions 2 years ago, some gear showcase and more, and look carefully enough and you might find a hidden download key for the album on Bandcamp too (there's 3 to spot throughout the video so grab them fast before someone else does)! I hope you enjoy Rewind Machine and look forward to working on more tunes with World Beyond soon! Cheer Vlad, here's to 5 years of the channel, and wishing you many more successes with World Beyond in the years to come!

Ah think I might've missed this one on the alternate channels... haven't been keeping up with World Beyond at all but these are so great.

If he was on NG I'd add in a Happy 5th @World-Beyond here!!! And who knows, maybe he actually is, memento of early profiles there still lurking...

He used to be on here (it's how we met), though looks like he's not left any trace of his account(s) (not the ones I know of) unfortunatley. I'm sure he'd appreciate the well-wishes though :D Many thanks!

Nooooo, why WB why, to abandon this place of all places, the ship of hope, the arc of unsuppressed creativity that still floats in these shark-riddled seas of big commerce and censorship...

Wonder if it'd be possible to drag him back aboard hmm...

I know DX Somehow I doubt he'll be coming back though :C Already left Facebook and Twitter and it's hard enough to get him to respond to emails at times... I don't blame him, certainly on the social media front, but it was a shame to see him leave NG... The digital world sure can be taxing on mental health.

Ooh, he's jumping off social media entirely... feels like a shame this place somehow got lumped in with the others if it felt like just another one of many, but I understand the need/want for focus if you really want to get places and do things too. It's a grind. Same time good promo opportunities even if all you have on these places is a presence; don't partake in interactions at all. As long as it works for him though...

Agreed on the sentiments. I definitley find the promo is a heavy grind, often distracting from the art making. Indeed whatever's best for him. I'm sure I wouldn't be on social media if it wasn't for promo/business stuff! (Maybe just to keep in contact with specific friends)

Mmm no social media dopamine kicks though? ;) I feel like that's what keeps most of us here after all, short-term reward, feels like it'd be the rewarding part of that grind too, any response is like a cue of affirmation in a way... anyway: too true. Totes agree.

Hard to imagine how different life could be if there really WAS no social media. For better or worse. Probably better.

That sure is what gets you addicted indeed... I'd rather get my kicks picking up a guitar personally (much bigger kicks too and probably more productive ;P). I'm personally on the side of social media in it's most general form being for the worse. The need of having to put on a smile, or the additiveness of contant venty posts which while venting and providing short term relief don't really do anything to make steps towards solving ones own problems; the pressure to jump on bandwagons, low self esteem from seeing what others have and post about (whether that be body image or possesions or job status). It's not like things weren't like that before social media (magazines, TV, etc...), but certainly things like FB, Twitter and Instagram have really brought instant and constant access to it especially with smartphones. There's very little moderation in our online consumtion anymore, it's just consume consume consume, and much like a diet, your mental health is relective of what you put into your head (which in social media's case is often not the most healthy stuff). IMHO at least.

But then there is the aspect of ease of contact too, which for the most part is a good thing. It's a difficult ballance for sure and I think as a relatively new technology (social media really less than 20 years old), people still have a lot to learn about the long term effects. I might be biased though XD

Haha yeaaah, though I do get kicks from creating... I think I really do get an even bigger kick from getting a positive response when I share said creation. :) Hella addictive drug this thing, though daaaang you really see a lot of downside to this all... I do agree of course, just haven't spent so much time really going down that rabbithole... on the bright side you occasionally get inspired by others too, but it's a delicate balance between envy/appreciation sometimes, and undue pressure when everything else seems better. Regarding those content venty posts I feel the other way about those, that's one of the strengths of this format IMO, and I wish more people would use it that way, if you vent in the right way it doesn't just cleanse yourself but those who read said vent too. Hopefully. I think I feel similarly about those things as I do about movies with a sad but beautiful ending. Through the sadness I'm inspired to overcome? Something like that. That said there's definitely a lot of unnecessary whining going on sometimes, and a lot of petty anger I don't see much meaning in. XD Ah, maybe that's a type of venty post too, so not all good, depends on what kind of solace or affirmation you seek; if you fall into the same category as both reader/poster...

But good venty posts are like philosophy to me. It's like a bridge of leaning. Sharing experiences and getting places. Finding new truths. Something you wouldn't be able to do so easily over continents and cultures as with what we have right here.

Anyway yeah, totally agree with the social pressure of the main platforms. Feel like this one's a bit different though, you're a bit more free to be yourself here, hope I'm not getting an off impression and just totally not perceiving things as they really are here....

But bandwagons: you do feel pressure to jump on those? For income? There's no other incentive is there? I thought you might be free of those; be walking your own path in that regard, don't think I've seen you jumping on bandwagons much...

And for sure. Too much of everything. I rarely have my cellphone on btw. As long as I keep with a stationary computer then nothing can follow me where I don't want it too. :) Traditional landlines FTW! Soon as you step out of the house you're FREE. Can't no one call and tell you otherwise.

Mmm. It is too. Do you tend to be connected all the time though? Phone with you wherever you go? Do you do a lot of call-based business correspondence too btw or mostly via email/chat?

And nah, I think that's true! We weren't built for this technology, and there's really no way we personally can adapt to it on a genetic level during our lifetime. :) Maybe newer generations though. But everything's changing so quickly now it'd be hard for anyone to keep up, and for their body to adapt. I don't think it's just a psychological thing either - there's so much new strain involved with the body too, with the way we sit, the way we use our eyes etc etc. The things were exposed to and how we handle ourselves in regular life keep changing just as rapidly as the ways of the digital realm itself. But companies sure figured out how to max out our built-in reward system pretty quickly... downside being: it takes so much more to feel a sense of reward now...

Moving sentiments to an email thread :) Brb!
