Another great acapella without a beat to hide behind. Reminds me of one of the previous Inktober years again :) There's a specific inflection you use which reminds me of those older ones :) *high high low, high high low* Heavy lyrics this time though. Reflective Just a week left to go!

Cyberdevil responds:

Mhm! I ought listen back sometime and study my formula a bit, bound to be repeating a fair few patterns I'm not noticing, I do notice sometimes that I try something I've never tried before; that seems to boost inspiration a bit more than usual... suppose there are similar patterns to most of these though, in which order I rhyme words, in how I accentuate and structure, ought intentionally try to get away from writing all verses in quatrains too as to mix up structure further...

Thanks again Nick! Interesting observation too.

An unexpected vocal cameo indeed! I think this is the first time I've heard FoD's voice :D The way everything fell together with this one was impeccable XD I must ask is there a story behind the butter cutter lyric? Great stuff peeps!

Cyberdevil responds:

Vocal F-o-D appearances do seem a rare honor, was fun to get one for this. :) First time I heard him might have been on the recent Goon Squad reunion track, worth a listen if you've missed it: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/1352064

Actually that probably isn't the first... first published cameo, maybe...

Welll the story here maybe started with a certain review response here: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/1369431

I asked if he might provide a vocal sample of said response at precise beat-related BPM, he provided, I stuck with the theme, and here we are now. :D Glad you enjoyed the results!

Well definitely doesn't SOUND like the inspiration's waning XD Agreed with FoDs sentiments on the vocal/instrumental level, but sounding kickass nonethless! Maybe not the instrumentation, but the tonality gives me Bizkit vibes in a great way :) Nicely done both of yous!

Cyberdevil responds:

Well it WAS waning, I promise! XD Ey always a good thing if you're giving off LB vibes, glad to hear it! Thank you!

Another great FoD and CD collab! Hope the throat feels better soon CD, still sounding killer on the mic though (just try not to overdo it). Loved the pseudoscratchy wubby synth line in the beat FoD! How'd you do that one? Great stuff peeps! A third left of the month CD :D

Cyberdevil responds:

Thanks man. :) Yeah I definitely overdid it yesterday, but tis all good, that's what it takes to make shit metal without proper vocal coaching! XD Yupp yupp, as always once you hit the halfway point or so suddenly the days are going by way too quick... onward!!!

Ah heck yeah! Numetal / rap metal vibes are sounding great stuff! And dudes! All done in one day including all the instrumental stuff too?! Quick turnaround and great work! And hehe, the Phonk cowbell melody riffs! Really great stuff peeps! One of the standout tracks from this year's selection :D Always good to have a bit more (nu) metal in my life :D

Cyberdevil responds:

Aye! Still waiting for that official Numetal category in the AP though. :) I think last time we did this we submitted it as Metal... what's closest though, where does it settle?! Maybe a little closer to hip-hop this time around...

Thanks man. :) Really happy with this one too. Re:instrumental Josh threw this together on Friday I think, had no time to do it justice then, so the rest was yesterday. Written/recorded and sent over for a final phat killerRAT style mix then! Could've probably formulated that clearer.

Glad you liked it; agree! :D Cheers!

guyfromKillerRAT responds:

haha love to hear from ya jabun, I've always liked your stuff, especially Better Than The Book. It's weird because, you know, when I made this song, I was kind of thinking of nu metal, but mostly I was just thinking of 90s misfits which is far from it! But looking back, I definitely tossed in a bit of nu metal, a slight hint of coal chamber was definitely there and the 'Devil and I were both adding a lot of Crazy Town into this and neither of us realized it until I heard his vocals, and pointed it out, afterwards I then realized my work wasn't far off from the same thing haha. Actually didn't even know he was a fan until we had that conversation!

Come to think of it, I actually don't even remember why I added the phonk samples. I guess I probably thought my song was...too (?) metal or something? Like I didn't add enough hip hop? I don't know. I guess I just kind of did it lol. Glad I did though, made for a really cool part.

Always great to hear from ya Nick. I still hope Better Than The Book's albums can get a CD release someday, I'd definitely buy those.

Much love,
Josh

Another fast flowing tongue twisting short verse, nice little slow down breather in the middle too. I especially loved the ending lyrics. Now I'm trying to think what the lights are called over here. Full-beam and dipped-beam? I have a gripe at the moment that the peeps in the town we've moved to don't seem to know the difference so most of the time they're blinding you... but that's another story XD Great job CD!

Cyberdevil responds:

Ah the light terminology's different in the UK too then probably! Seems high/low beam is the US. Or there are different ways of saying it in both... man the blinding lights issue is a problem here too! XD To some extent it may be an issue with modern cars though, it's common they just have an 'auto' setting that's supposed to switch from full to dipped automatically when you have oncoming traffic, but I wonder if it always works so well. Probably does not adjust for pedestrians either! Plus even dipped lights are so friggin' bright on some newer cars, seems they get stronger and sronger almost. I wonder if we'll start getting some legislation/limitations on that soon...

TY for the alternative terminology and review. :) *thumbs up!*

Some real fast ornaments there! Tongue twisters too! Good use of the train time :D Rest up sir! Sounding great :D

Cyberdevil responds:

Thank you thank you! :D Alas seems it may be a full-steam weekend with no full-refuel sleeping, but then again sleep intensity depends; with depletion maybe it deepens and I wake up totally inspiritened after all! Cheers; may you also have good rest/a ball!

Loved this one! (Echoing Larry's sentiments too). Filthy beat with some chiptune vibes, super tight flows and some really on point adlibs (really loved the acapella outro too). Was the "OH KAY" at 0:08 supposed to be a Donkey Kong reference? It was SO perfect! Great job to the both of you :D

Cyberdevil responds:

Thank you too JB! Ah I'm sorry to say the OK! was not a thought-out DK homage at all, just seemed like such a suitable thing to adlib right there. XD I did love those games though (and in fact did do a DK inspired rap years back) so who knows, subconscious inspirations maybe! Thank you thank you!

Another great one peeps! Hardhitting beats which compliment the tight flows well. This one's impossible not to bob your head along to! Halfway there now, and Larry feels like you're on maybe a 1/3 of these already this year (loved the string sounds on this one btw) XD I gotta get in on the action! Hope that back's getting better CD!

Cyberdevil responds:

Thank you thank you, it is a groove ain't it! :) Hehe the fact that he's doing these daily too somehow has me jumping on way more than I usually do for sure, so many good ones! XD You definitely do, hope we get in that traditional collabo soon! Back's OK, thank you, seems there are no miracle cures though, just gotta keep working on it.

Another bonus double day! FANTASTIC STUFF from the the both of you! I wish I could give it 6 stars! More like a blissful poetry or sermon over powerful illustrative ambience than the usual traditional rap stylings. Really enjoyed this! Halfway there now too :D Great stuff peeps!

Cyberdevil responds:

Aw THAT much?! :D I do like how this turned out too, opened a faucet creatively, or maybe tuned me back to what I natively pin inside, and penmanship thrives on this kind of latency. Certainly great to see you appreciate it JB! Will do, halfway through fo rizzle!
